Couple of days back-that’s May 16th Hawaii News Now reported about Hawaiian Airlines implementing a new no-show policy from Thursday May 15th. Its as per the new rules—if passenger is not present for their ticketed flight at the time of boarding; carrier will cancel their reservation. It will also include the layover and return flights as well.

Money or miles spend on the flight ticket will also not refunded nor available as credit towards future flights or loyalty rewards. Thus, passengers are advised to contact the airline priorly-if heading on thought; they will miss their scheduled flight.

The airline came up with clear explaining the rules-a no-show passenger is defined as someone who has confirmed reservation but doesn’t available on board. Meanwhile Hawaiian airlines showed some perks as reservations can be adjusted beforehand & refundable tickets may still be refundable—depending on the terms & conditions at the time of purchase.

Breaking down the fine print

Apart from this harshest aspect of new no-show policy-all fares associated with tickets are forfeited on departure of the fleet. Customers already reached at the airport at the time of departure—may be advised to contact airport service agent.

Therefore, implying the hold on flight for a passenger-who is present but not yet boarded. However there is no-show policy applicable to all non-refundable tickets purchased in the US.

People purchasing it outside the US may have different rules. Peprahs also have no-expectations made for corporate clients with HawaiianMiles or Mileage Plan Elite Members.

Flight changes could be your best move yet

In regard to the new policy; Hawaiian does specially advice customers to attempt changing a flight to a different date or destination. Its when a situation arises-causing the passenger to miss the flight.

Although flight can not be changed online-customers are advised to contact the reservations department of the airline.  The new policy is understandable-customers does not turn up for the flight. The seat they would have travelled on can’t be easily sole to other potential customers.

In fact, if the carrier knows it in advance-they can proceed to sell the seat in some way-either to last-minute buyers else passengers looking to buy additional space on board. This gives the airline a chance to gain at least a portion of the fare price.

The no-show rule: Enforced and growing

The no-show policies among airlines do fairly common things. Some carriers will not refund the value of the missed flight but ensures a chargeable amount a no-show fee. Even some airlines are more forgiving-especially beforehand-ensuring the customers a place on the next scheduled flight to their destination; with little or no-added fees.
